A 20-minute short play by Art Blue as a prelude to the Grand Opening of Ferrisquito
NERUVAL, THE OWL SPEAKS: Welcome dear visitor. Not all of you know me. I am Neruval the owl made by Tyrell Corporation, the only AI ever programmed without an end date. Google it and you will see. Even then, I know not all of you will believe this. I know, also, that you will not believe that this little place here is coming out of the future to you. It is the year 2047 and the booklet you find on the table to copy at the end of this performance is a reprint of the one made for the Grand Opening of this room on September, 3 rd, 2014. In 2047 not many pieces of art made of prims and sculpts will exist. I added a stamp “IN ARCHIVE” on the works I saw on my recently performed inspection of the time capsule being still there. I know it is not the time to bother you with the future and on top it is all written down for the ones who are interested in the future, so let me come to the second chapter, before I come back to the question of life.
I have the honor, today of welcoming Chance Acoustic the creator of this place. The place, called the Room Ferrisquito, has been kept safe as a copy in the time capsule Vulcanicus now for more than 30 years. You see dear visitor the collection with the eyes of this gifted artist. You need to spend time in this space until the room does its magic on you; the simple aperture, the small size, the minimal effects on first sight. Take your time to look at the sky, the lights moving, the changes reflecting the art shown in pictures, Chance’s various views of the 3D works of Bryn Oh. A pioneer of dreams; one can explore Bryn Oh’s works by walking “into them” in your time of the year 2014. I was told that Bryn Oh does not like to hear much words of admiration so I will stay silent on this. There are others here to find words and make it known. I will welcome Bryn Oh, the maker of 25 pieces of art that we will be shown today and on demand “in real” by Ferrisquito Resident [after this short play].

I know you don’t believe everything that I said at the beginning. You want proof that I, the companion of Art Blue, can bend time. That’s why I am here as his AI to assist my maker in the creation of Life that he promised to do in the last part of his short story The Artefact, published in rez magazine June 2014. Art. Now you must make believe. I will bend time for you so you can stand up from your wheelchair and walk the way you could 33 years ago. You may also speak the way you spoke in 2014. ART BLUE SPEAKS: Thanks Neruval. You spoke so well. I have nothing to add but the creation of Life that was promised. I don’t like that I promised the readers of rezmagazine “I WILL DO IT” and then nothing happens. Let me quote first the facts of life, published by Jeremy and Eli Linden for this realm we [SL 1]:
“In 2010, Second Life changed from registering new accounts with a "first name" and "last name" to a single-word username. If you registered your account after mid-2010, you created a unique, single-word username; for example: mortimer1980, or jsmith57. - … - If you created your Second Life account before mid-2010, you have a Second Life "first name" and "last name" …” I could now select one person standing here, a Resident, born in 2011, 2012, 2013 or 2014 and use some words of magic when I give him or her a “last name” like the old Avatars have. I could call a particle artist to distract you by creating a glowing universe around this room. I could let Miss Universe dance on the table for the few males today and for the women I could rez their soulmates in feel and look, none of them AO-less, real men knowing the tricks. But this would not write history, at least not the history I am interested in. So I call just “The Still Not Known One” to be born the old way. An avatar, born as a single-word username, soon being no longer one.

Nervual, throw the dice and tell me what birth date it shall be. It must be after mid-2010, so the audience will believe a life creation is happening here and now. This is the most complex thing to understand, in the Draft Universe: Life and Death. Then the audience will believe that you are programmed to bend time and you visit us today from the future of Vulcanicus and they will believe all the art is kept safe. NERUVAL: I throw the dice in me now - it shall be a Resident born on: August 24, 2012. ART BLUE: I made a note of this. What name shall it be? NERUVAL: On the Spot! I like Art as a first name, that’s all!
ART BLUE: I got it! I, … I, … - I just need an egg for this as I forgot the blue pill. Has anyone got an egg? PATRICIAANNE DAVIAU: I don’t have an egg, I have some hens. I think there must be some eggs by now. I hear them clucking . Feel free to take one fresh egg out of my chicken globe. [presents the globe]
