MARIE RIVIER, WOMAN WITH A HEART ON FIRE
You, the woman-apostle with an ardent heart, who always acted for the greater glory of god and the salvation of the world, teach us
today to become women of fire so that we might set hearts ablaze with the fire of his love. "Fire produces fire," she said, "one burning
torch can ignite many others.
WORD OF GOD FOR US From our Rule of life Zeal to make Jesus Christ known and loved is the special characteristic
of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary. This constant and generous zeal
gives us the audacity to announce
Jesus Christ to all those to whom we are sent,
and to work everywhere to spread his Kingdom.
Reflection: It is from the heart of Jesus the Good Shepherd that the fire of this
love springs forth, yearning to spread to all. Marie Rivier likes to call it
zeal. She admits that zeal was a passion in her. It was nourished by the fire of the word of the Lord that burned the hearts of the disciples, like the pillar in the desert that led them on their journey, a pillar of fire that burned their hearts interiorly. (VJC t 3, p. 93).
