As a budding chef, you probably spend a lot of time drooling over pro kitchens Not the stainless steel everywhere, high-end restaurant kitchens, but the kitchens that the chefs and bakers in those restaurants go home to A space created by a professional, maximized for storage, movement, and efficient design A space that represents every part of your personality and style I’m Bobby Hicks, a social media cook known for my retro recipes and fantastic style, and I’m here to give some tips for creating the perfect kitchen .

A Lesson in Physics

A home cook knows there is a lot of movement involved in getting dinner from kitchen to table When creating your home, think about the distance between essential points of your kitchen, such as your

sink, your stove, and your garbage can I like to make sure all of these are accessible and aim for minimal distance between each

Be careful about the way cabinets, your dishwasher, and your microwave open If one of these will inhibit you while you are cooking, you may want to think about repositioning it .

Keep it simple, silly, and make your kitchen cleanup as minimal as possible Opt for a surface that is scratch- and stain-resistant, such as quartz or a solid surface material

The same durability applies to faucets and appliances Depending on the finish of your kitchen faucet and appliances, you may have issues with fingerprints or water marks showing It is best to find high-quality finishes that require minimal care . Try to keep everything at-a-glance and ata-grab by using can organizers, spice racks, and knife organizers I prefer to keep like items together and the things I most often closest to the front If you have a small kitchen, utilize every inch or create space by adding organizers such as stove shelves or a utility rack with extra shelves for your

You spend a lot of time in the kitchen, and it should not only be functional, but fabulous, and designed around your busy life My home is designed to work as not only a functioning living space but also a studio, where each room has its own unique look and feel

When designing my own kitchen, it was important to ensure that everything I needed was organized, close by, and ensured efficiency for my cooking and filming Little things like spinning tables (lazy susan organizers) in my cabinets offer the most space with the easiest accessibility . Having an oven range that is controlled via WiFi/ Bluetooth allows me to turn it on when I’m miles from home, so I can get to work right away!

I’m sure over the years I’ll add more functions and flair to the house, but taking the time to invest in the right products has been the right move for me, and it’s worth the wait

Keeping Up with Tap and Toilet Trends

Always keeping up on the latest style and technology trends in bathroom products, members of Gerber’s product team from Woodridge, IL, met up with counterparts from Germany and Taiwan to attend the ISH 2023 trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany After a brief hiatus due to COVID, the typically biennial show was held March 13-17, 2023 Highlighting new trends in HVAC and water products, more than 150,000 international visitors attended this year’s show ISH is considered the world’s preeminent bathroom exposition and covers the spectrum of vitreous china (VC) and HVAC water industry products

“Our team attends ISH to discover the latest product trends in bathrooms from across the globe,” says Katie Hayes, Director of Product Management – Fittings “It’s a great opportunity to identify emerging trends in both style and function, and then work to translate those trends into product solutions that support Gerber’s brand and product strategy ”

Gerber teams also learned about new technologies in VC products, as well as popular style trends, including colors and finishes, says Director of VC Product Management, Kevin McJoynt He adds, “ISH gives us the opportunity to flex our imaginations while staying aware of how the market is evolving .”

Coming Together for Community Days

With most of our employees working from home several days a week, Gerber introduced Community Days in our Woodridge and Montreal offices this year . A way to get together and intentionally have fun, Community Days are a once-a-month activity

So far, Community Day have included multiple different events To kick off Community Days, we hosted onsite chair massages with breakfast included

In March, we celebrated March Madness with watching a live game, pizza, and a Gerber basketball bracket April saw a coffee bar come

to Woodridge, complete with tea, smoothies, and bagels

In May, Gerber employees across the U S and Canada had the chance to run, walk, or bike a 6k, raising money to provide clean water to children in communities around the world .

We are thrilled to be able to bring something new to our employees each month and cannot wait to continue planning these future events
