ue to the uncertain times brought about by the COVID-19 outbreak, the demand for gas has been severely affected. This comes as regions are put on lockdowns and travel is restricted. A weekly report by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) even reveal that the demand is close to a 30 year low. On the bright side, the continued increase in grocery sales from convenience stores in gas stations have become a boost to the industry, all thanks to the government designating the shops as essential businesses. Because of this, many convenience store owners are scrambling to provide products and services to their customers amid the threat of COVID-19. To fulfill the rapidly changing needs of the customers, many convenience stores are starting to adapt several measures. One of which is restocking on more staple items, including paper towels, toilet paper, milk, and bread. Those who already have mobile apps and online ordering capacities in place also begin featuring curbside pickup options for their customers. Others who are not so technologically inclined are filling the gap by partnering with various delivery services, including Uber Eats and Door Dash. 4

Covid-19 Impact on Gas Stations and Convenient Stores Most convenience stores are also putting up safety measures inside the store themselves, such as plexiglass shields at checkout counters and more stringent sanitizing policies. Electronic and contactless payment options are also becoming a trend. Overall, convenience stores will remain in a bright spot amidst the COVID-19 threat as long as they adapt to the constantly changing demands of the current health crisis. Although the rest of 2020 still remains uncertain, it is likely that convenience stores will continue to be essential. It also pays to keep ahead of the curve and introduce more technological solutions to customers, not only to fulfill the safety precautions of the ongoing situation but also to upgrade the store to a postpandemic design.

LG commits to Expansion Strategy in Middle East and Africa as Most Trusted HVAC Partner Company Aims to Grow Regional HVAC Presence with Total Integrated Solutions Centered on Expertise and Partnership

A

senior executive at LG Electronics communicated the company’s intention to expand the company’s presence in the Middle East and Africa HVAC industry. At a virtual conference yesterday, the head of LG’s Air Solution business division explained LG’s brand philosophy to become a trusted partner in the region based on the values of integration, expertise, and commitment as well as a new portfolio of air purification solution products for residential, office and commercial environments. “Most people may think of LG as a washing machine and refrigerator brand but we provide solutions in many sectors that consumers don’t see,” remarked Dr. Lee Kam-gyu, head of LG’s Air Solution business unit. “LG is constantly investing in capabilities to raise the trust of our customers and we will reinforce this commitment through better integrated solutions, expert insights and more dedicated support to become a trusted partner for HVAC in the region.” Since the pandemic outbreak and the increasing time spent indoors, concerns over indoor air quality have grown. Needs for high quality HVAC and air

20

management solutions have increased due to the pandemic with LG’s products – which not only meet but surpass guidelines for clean air in the region – seeing unexpected demand. To further raise the value for MEA customers and enhance the level of trust in the brand, LG is focusing on its three core values of integration, expertise and commitment. As an integrator, LG will deliver even more optimized HVAC and energy management solutions for each and every project to achieve the minimal total cost of ownership (TCO) for its clients. With its deep expertise, LG will advise its customers with its technological experience-based knowledge to find the most effective and efficient solution to any problem. And as a committed partner, LG promises to go beyond the installation of its solutions to service, maintain and help manage its products through the system’s lifecycle. James Lee, president of LG Middle East and Africa, reinforced LG’s experience and commitment in the Middle East and Africa. “The key reason behind our success in this region to date is our commitment to understand and respond to the real needs of the MEA market,” said Lee. “Expanding beyond this will require significantly more technology, more innovation and especially more customer service.” Consistent with this strategy, LG has introduced products and solutions in the region that are designed to deliver the best technology that the company as to offer. For example, a new, ceiling-based DUAL Vane Cassette lineup boasts a powerful five-step air purification process that is seamlessly designed into the unit itself. With its new air purification-inclusive design, this advanced product delivers various airflow modes that are optimally customized for all spaces, delivering clean, filtered air to its indoor destination. What’s more, LG’s innovative Round Cassette for commercial spaces not only provides a luxurious design that makes a space look more inviting, it also covers large areas with flexible airflow compared to conventional 4-Way cassette. Its increased airflow and detailed wind direction makes it possible for its cool breeze to spread widely and evenly. “As a global total provider of HVAC solutions, we look forward to enriching both human life and nature in the Middle East and Africa,” said Lee. 21

T

he past few months have seen a drastic change in almost all business function as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Among those businesses that has proven to be resilient in the face of crisis and is dubbed as essential, as well, are the convenience stores and gas stations.

Tons of the convenience stores and gas stations, which have become vital businesses in the neighborhoods they are in, have applied changes to keep up with the tough times. Although some of the changes made may be temporary, others are more likely to become a permanent thing in the future, ultimately changing the business practices in both industries.

Convenience Stores and Gas Stations as Essential Businesses amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic Before the outbreak hit the globe earlier this year, studies have revealed that about 40% of fuel customers rarely visit the actual convenience store at their gas stations. However, this has changed just recently as these stations became the local food and grocery option when the lockdowns began. Since these small shops are typically only a 10-minute walk or drive from a person’s home, it is but logical to grab necessities there. In fact, in rural areas, 8 out of 10 Americans often pick up their groceries whenever they are at their local convenience store. When the pandemic hit, the US government dubbed convenience stores as an essential business, and a survey in April 2020 revealed that over 50% of convenience stores reported an increase in grocery sales during the outbreak. Sales in the food service, however, have significantly declined, mainly due to the change in menus and services, including the shutdown of seating and self-serve areas to minimize the risk of potential contamination.

Changing Convenience Stores and Gas Stations to Satisfy Customer Needs To meet the increasing needs of their customers, a handful of gas stations have begun stocking extra staple items, including bread, milk, and toilet paper. Others who already have mobile apps and online ordering options have added curb-side pickups to their features, as well, while some have partnered with online delivery services like Door Dash and Uber Eats. They have also added plexiglass shields at the checkout counters and increased the cleaning and sanitization policies to protect both the customers and employees. Some stores decided to shorten their business hours to give way to more thorough cleaning and restocking activities, while others implemented new payment methods, such as Point of Sale mobile payments for curb-side option and EBT food (SNAP) payments. This comes as an improvement after the McKinsey Global Payments Report reveal that 75% of transactions are done through cash. Now, electronic payment technologies are expected to grow in popularity, including mobile wallets (Alipay, PayPal, WeChat Pay, and even QR codes and barcodes), credit and debit cards (whose users have dramatically doubled in the past five years), and even augmented reality tools where gas station attendants can simply scan payment codes on customers’ smartphones and finish the transaction within 30 seconds. 38

Convenience Stores Updating their Customers on New Changes Since the beginning of the lockdown periods, many customers rely on convenience stores and gas stations for their daily essentials. This meant that business owners should prioritize getting the word out to their customers regarding their expanded staple item options and the new delivery and payment systems they have put up to deliver services and products safely. This can easily be done through various signage across in the store and sending out mailers to their local regular customers to raise awareness on the changes. The Future for Convenience Stores and Gas Stations Although it remains uncertain how the outbreak will affect these businesses for the rest of the year and further into 2021, the impact will likely be smaller as conveniently located shops in neighborhoods will continue to become an essential business. However, several factors, such as government regulations, stay-at-home measures, and temporary store closures, will result in both short and long-term economic effects. This meant that it is but necessary for all businesses across many industries to adapt to the changes in the environment and their customers’ needs, especially since changes in the gas station industry are already in motion. Keeping up with the technological solution is an advantage. - End -

The Latest Connectivity Solutions for Oil & Gas Sector

Connectivity Solutions Digitalisation in the oil and gas sector is a topic of great interest to the industry, with experts beginning to acknowledge the immense benefits it can bring. Energy companies are rapidly adopting digitalisation to stay sustainable and competitive by reducing their production and exploration costs. Oil and gas companies are also increasing their investments in digital transformation to scale up their output. According to BP Energy Outlook, the Middle East remains the largest oil producing region and the second largest gas producer, with 36% of global oil and 20% of gas output. Nabil Ben Soussia, Vice President Maritime, IEC Telecom Group commented: “Studies indicate that between now and 2025, digital transformation in the oil and gas industry could 42

unlock approximately $1.6 trillion of value for the industry, its customers and wider society. Digitalisation has the potential to generate around $1 trillion for oil and gas businesses as well as create benefits worth approximately $640 billion for the wider society. The ability to facilitate improved crew communications, online access and seamless operational performance is driving demand for new solutions, accelerating a new era of connectivity. IEC Telecom Group’s latest solution OneGate Energy, designed as a land variation of its unique solution OneGate, presented earlier this year to maritime (OneGate Marine) and offshore (OneGate Offshore) markets. OneGate keeps remote units connected, providing high quality data for daily operations and staff welfare. It provides access to a virtual platform that hosts a

wide range of critical applications. This enables the technical team to maintain, update, and upgrade onsite infrastructure remotely, saving time and money on logistics. OneGate also separates the corporate environment from staff network. Such segregation ensures that e-operations and classified data remain safe eliminating cyber threats. In addition, the IEC Telecom features v85NX, the latest model in Intellian’s easy to install, low-lifecycle cost NX Series of VSAT antennas. Featuring Ka- and Ku-band compatibility, all NX Series antennas are completely future-proof and ready for operation on planned satellite networks operating from Middle Earth Orbit (MEO) and Low Earth Orbit (LEO), while still providing unmatched performance on Geostationary Orbit satellites today. IEC Telecom also joins forces with its strategic partner Thuraya and launch a bespoke Thuraya VSAT+ service. Combining the reach of the Kuband with the flexibility of the L-Band, Thuraya VSAT+ delivers high throughput services for bandwidth-hungry applications, effectively speeding up the digitalisation of offshore platforms. It caters to all vessel types and offshore budget requirements. Together with its strategic satellite broadband partner Yahclick, IEC Telecom has a robust IEC Welfare Solution, specifically designed to provide on-demand data access for team members and third-party contractors at onshore and offshore oil and gas facilities, as well as at remote sites across other industries such as the construction one for instance. Powered by Yahclick satellite broadband, IEC Welfare offers uninterrupted and cost-effective connectivity thanks to YahClick’s use of the efficiencies provided by High Throughput Satellite (HTS) technologies over the Ka-Band. 43

Auto Maintenance Tips

riving is a huge responsibility, but new drivers tend to think more about their new-found freedom and joy they get once they finally get behind the wheel. Plus, owning their own car is a special part of the whole driving journey, because it gives one absolute control over their driving habits. Being able to use your own vehicle and drive wherever and whenever without worrying about returning the car can be truly liberating. However, it’s of utmost importance to keep your car in top condition, in order to prevent accidents and other mishaps. Therefore, here are some auto maintenance tips for all new drivers out there.

1. Don’t forget to read the owner’s manual Reading the manual might sound boring, but in reality, there’s no better way to learn about your new car and its features. You don’t need to know it by heart, but skimming it and remembering the most important details will surely provide you with enough info that will help you drive smoothly with no worries. In order to be safe, be sure to keep the manual in your glove compartment, so you’ll be able to read it at all times. 46

2. Always change oil This one is a basic auto maintenance rule so it’s important to take it seriously. Back in the day, changing oil was recommended every 3 months or 3000 miles passed, but thanks to the advancements in the car industry, this rule shouldn’t be taken as gospel. However, changing oil is still considered crucial, so be sure to change it least after every 5000 miles. Some engines will allow for longer intervals. Still, it’s necessary to remember that changing oil should depend on your car brand and the way you use it, so if you’re unsure, check your owner’s manual or contact the nearest car shop in your area.

3. Transmission matters a great deal Transmission issues have become well-known mainly due to movies that always displayed car issues as transmission issues. Every time a car breaks in the movie and the smoke starts coming out, chances are it’s a transmission problem. But, whenever this happens, it’s mostly because the engine runs out of the liquid that helps it run smoothly. Therefore, before you start cruising, make sure to check whether the level of transmission fluids is in order. Additionally, it’s essential to find the correct transmission fluid for your car in order to prevent your car from breaking down in the future.

4. Keep your car clean and in a neat shape Your car needs to be fixed so you won’t encounter any unpleasant moments especially in the middle of nowhere, however, if you’re a new driver, you should make sure to keep your car clean and neatly-looking. Adopting this habit will keep you focused on things that matter: driving and the road ahead of you. Maintaining components should always be your top priority, but keep in mind that you should pay attention to the exterior of your car as well. So, get yourself a quality glass cleaner and a towel, and be sure to clean it every time you spot dirt or dust. In case you have no time to do it, then taking your vehicle to a professional car wash service will help you keep it clean and shiny at all times.

Final thoughts Your vehicle is your trusted companion in a way, which is why you should aim to take care of it, especially if you’re a new driver. That way, you’ll never forget to fix it in case something bad happens. Finally, remember that car maintenance involves a lot of responsibilities and that being careful and diligent will make sure that your car is secure and in good shape.

Bayer Sustainability to Step-up • 2030 target to be carbon neutral in own operations • Ambitious 2030 objectives for access to health and nutrition in low- and middleincome countries and underserved communities • Measurable sustainability targets to be incorporated into management compensation Bayer has today announced a set of comprehensive sustainability measures and new commitments from 2020 onward. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and the Paris Agreement, the company has set ambitious targets to be achieved by 2030. “By making sustainability an even stronger part of our strategy and operations, we aim to achieve long-term returns and generate a positive impact for society and the environment,” says Werner Baumann, Chairman of the Board of Management of Bayer AG. The world is collectively facing an unprecedented challenge to ensure that a growing and aging world population has the chance to thrive while using the planet’s resources in a more sustainable way. “The scale of our business creates responsibility and opportunity for us to act. That is why, we are now significantly stepping up our sustainability efforts,” says Baumann. Bayer will monitor and report the sustainability targets with the same rigor as its financial targets. The goals will be integrated into decision-making processes and management compensation. Furthermore, Bayer will establish an independent Sustainability Council consisting of external sustainability experts. Advising the Board of Management, the council will monitor 50

and challenge the further development of Bayer’s sustainability efforts. Bayer’s increased efforts are designed to help more people thrive and make the most efficient use of natural resources. That is why, Bayer sets itself the following detailed targets.

Enabling hundreds of millions through access to health and nutrition By 2030, Bayer aims to support 100 million smallholder farmers in low-and-middle income countries by providing access to more innovations, knowledge and partnerships. Bayer’s support will help increase local food supply and reduce poverty in rural communities. Today there are around 550 million smallholder farms worldwide. In developing countries, they produce food for 80 percent of the population. However, stuck in subsistence farming, many farmers suffer from hunger or malnutrition themselves. Within the same time frame, Bayer intends to provide 100 million women in low-andmiddle income countries with access to

family planning by funding multi-stakeholder aid programs and by ensuring the supply of affordable modern contraceptives. As of 2019, Bayer already provides contraceptives to about 40 million women in low-and-middle income countries. Family planning methods are vital in the support of women’s health, rights and economic status. At present, more than 200 million women in low-and-middle income countries have an unmet need for modern contraception. In general, Bayer is working on adapting its pricing policy towards local purchasing power and strengthening patient access programs to increase the availability and affordability of Bayer products. Bayer will also continue to support the World Health Organization (WHO) in fighting neglected tropical diseases with product donations and financial support. In addition, Bayer aims to expand access to everyday health for 100 million people in underserved communities around the world. Today, at least half of the world’s population lacks access to essential health services, including self-care. Expanding access to self-care solutions and health education can help prevent diseases and offer healthcare to communities where self-care might be the only option. With an initial focus on women’s health and expanding access to micronutrients for pregnant women and children, Bayer intends to increase the availability and affordability of its trusted brands and support self-care initiatives.

Taking significant measures to protect climate and environment Bayer has been engaged in climate protection for decades and will further accelerate its efforts to combat climate change and protect biodiversity. The company is aiming to become carbonneutral in its own operations by 2030. To accomplish this, Bayer will implement energy efficiency measures, switch to 100 percent renewable electricity and offset the remaining emissions through biodiversity-enhancing carbon capture. Bayer is committed to the Science Based Targets Initiative and is already listed as a company that is taking action. In this project, started by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the U.N. Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), more

than 700 companies have committed to taking significant climate action and setting emission reduction targets to keep the increase in global temperature below 2°C. In this regard, Bayer is striving for absolute emission reduction along the entire value chain by engaging with suppliers and customers, as well as in the company’s logistics and packaging. The company will also collaborate with farmers to reduce the environmental footprint of agriculture wherever the company operates. Bayer aims to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions – per kilogram of crops produced in major agricultural markets – and the environmental impact of crop protection by 30 percent by 2030 in each case. To this end, Bayer will help farmers apply more sustainable practices, such as reducing tillage to help sequester carbon in the soil, and ensuring the more precise use of crop protection and fertilizer through product innovation and digital tools.

Contributions to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals The company’s sustainability commitments aim to achieve impact in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The United Nations agreed on 17 SDGs to build a better world for people and our planet by 2030. According to the UN, however, urgent and more rapid progress is needed. “With only ten years left, companies must live up to their responsibilities and act accordingly,” says Werner Baumann. “Bayer is positioned like only a few other companies to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals and this is precisely what our commitment is.” In addition to combating hunger (SDG 2) and promoting health and wellbeing (SDG 3), Bayer’s commitment will make a substantial contribution to taking climate action (SDG 13) and protecting life on land (SDG 15). Women play a key role in smallholder farming, in family planning and in ensuring the health of their families. Helping them to realize their potential will be a contribution to gender equality (SDG 5) and will also provide significant socioeconomic benefits to local communities and economies.

How an Engineering CEO Can Safely Reopen Its Business

H

ow a technology, industrial or engineering CEO safely lead their organization through Phase 2 of the pandemic crisis. This is the management phase between the containment of the crisis and things beginning to ease and recover. An uncertain wait and see phase with its own unique communications challenges along the way for an Engineering CEO and business leaders. Around the world, governments, business and industry are rising to the enormous challenge of managing the COVID-19 crisis. From one country to another, certain quarantine restrictions are carefully being eased, while others are still at lockdown stage. After several weeks of reacting and learning to adapt to the immediate impact of the crisis, we have reached a new phase where stakeholders want to know about wellbeing, job security, financial consequences and business continuity. An Engineering CEO must steer through changes in business pattern, new ways of delivering products and services, research new technologies and rethink their entire marketplace. Along the COVID-19 crisis cycle of disruption, management and recovery, there are still many potential difficulties businesses face, such as cost savings, lay-offs, furloughs or other shortterm and long-term impacts.

Empathize with Your Employees Leading with compassion and empathy is critical now more than ever. Employees seek encouragement, shareholders want performance and customers expect 58

uninterrupted service but with additional safety measures. Providing reassurance should be the central principle to all stakeholder communications at this stage. An engineering CEO should adopt a new way of communicating that is more considerate, empathetic and adjusted in tone from a linguistic perspective. They must carefully balance the need to drive business performance with the need to be sensitive. The pandemic has translated into a new global language of speaking to internal and external stakeholders who are worrying about what will happen next. Everything an engineering CEO do and communicate is currently scrutinized by the public and media more than usual. An engineering CEO need to show that they are sharing the pain, be authentic and human, resonating with the new realities for employees, customers and the community. Employees remain a key stakeholder group that requires regular communication. An engineering CEO must provide a framework to adopt and keep their teams informed, loyal, motivated and engaged during the pandemic crisis.

Public and Private Sector Collaboration COVID-19 is a considerable new responsibility for the corporate sector who now needs to team up with government to restart the economy. Governments have had to rely on companies to step forward quickly to provide key workers, essential supplies and services. Neither business nor government can go this alone, so an engineering CEO should be proactive in their public affairs efforts at a time when governments are looking for solutions.

New Challenges Ahead This is a crisis beyond the experience of most engineering CEOs who now need to strike the right tone of caution coupled with forward-paced optimism and confidence. An engineering CEO with a longer-term approach will spark innovations and effective leaders have the opportunity to shape a meaningful story for their organization at this generation-defining moment. 59

HVAC Safety Tips When Returning to Work Amid COVID-19

W

ith the easing of restrictions in various countries amid Covid-19 pandemic, and life gradually returning to normal, employees across all sectors have started going back to their workplaces, thus the urge to highlight the needs of effective building and utility systems’ procedures, to ensure that these offices and buildings provide HVAC safety system and protection from contaminants. Effective building and utility systems, including Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Systems, are indispensable in fighting the spread of any pandemic or infection, as they help to eliminate and reduce the impact of ‘micro-virus’ or airborne viruses, thus ensuring the health and safety of employees and visitors inside the building. The outbreak of the COVID-19 has raised concerns about the virus’ airborne transmission, calling for an urgent reevaluation of ventilation systems inside closed spaces in order to ensure a superior Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

HVAC engineers recommended several important precautionary measures, noting that such measures are optional and not mandatory since they do not eliminate the risk of infection, rather, help to reduce its transmission, especially with the possibility of viruses traveling through the air at a higher rate in closed spaces, in addition to the possibility of viral particles traveling between surfaces, if the air flow is higher than the required limit.

HVAC Safety #1: Enhance your Indoor Air Quality The importance of maintaining the Indoor Air Quality in buildings, through a number of basic requirements should be addressed by the building’s facility management and HVAC safety contractors. It is essential to ensure the filtration and purification of air entering the building through the HVAC Safety Systems; setting temperature and humidity at specified levels.

62

Underlining the significance of maintaining the highest levels of fresh air in closed areas, he said that the percentage of fresh air differs from one place to another depending on the application and utilization purposes – such as office buildings, renewable energy factories, consumer electronics warehouses, hospitals, etc. – and the type of HVAC Safety Systems it is equipped with. HVAC engineers stressed that the best way to ensure that virus particles do not hover or linger in common enclosed spaces is to increase its rate of ventilation and air circulation, and to ensure the methods of expelling the particles outside the building. International Air Quality Standards including The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE 62.1) - recommend that air should be regularly changed and circulated in rooms every hour depending on the size of the room, its use, the number of individuals inside it and other related factors. For example, the air inside smoking rooms needs to be changed 15-20 times/hour, laboratories 6-12 times, warehouses 3-10 times, offices 6-8 times, office buildings’ dining rooms 7-8 times, meeting rooms 8-12 times, and parking in building basement 1530 times.

HVAC Safety #2: Adapt your maintenance methodology HVAC engineers recommends providing Air Handling Units with high-quality, efficient filtration systems that can filter out viral particles of all sizes. It is also advised to carry out periodic preventive maintenance checkups, and to increase their frequency during the pandemic. Furthermore, HVAC technicians and engineers suggests cleaning and sterilizing the air ducts, water ducts, filters and other

components, with switching off and restarting the system from time to time, while ensuring optimum humidity levels inside the units, to combat the spread of viral particles, molds and bacteria inside them.

HVAC Safety #3: The new normal of future building design Project owners, consultants and contractors should consider several factors when designing new buildings and facilities. The HVAC equipment should meet the buildings’ requirements, taking into account the necessary and the required levels of fresh air, and to increase the ventilation whenever required, as ventilation and an exchange between indoor and outdoor air is vital to reduce airborne pollutants and to reduce disease transmission rates. Furthermore, it is advisable to place the HVAC equipment in a part of the building that is easy to access for frequently carry out the necessary maintenance and cleaning procedures. Humidity levels inside the building should not be less than 40% or exceed 60% in order to prevent the growth of mold and the multiplication of pollutants that will inevitably affect the health of people inside the buildings.

Asian Smart Cities and the 4th Industrial Revolution

S

ustainable cities of the future can be defined as those that have the latest facilities in technology, buildings, renewable energy generation solutions, and environmental conservation. The sustainability of cities would will contribute towards positive progress of future societies, as they become more developed and civilized on the path to sustainable development. One of the aspects of urban development accompanying the technical boom is that cities are established in line with the needs of people, not the other way around, to achieve the equation of smart transformation. This way, smart cities become compatible with development while maintaining their originality and their social, economic and environmental characteristics. Smart cities are data-dependent and address economic or social challenges to achieve sustainable development. Such data underpins sustainable city planning and inspires future foresight and boosts performance levels to achieve ideal societies for the future. The innovation and optimal use of modern technologies and data is the cornerstone of establishing future cities which Asian cities must achieve in order to establish its position as a global centre for sustainable information infrastructure.

74

Keeping pace with urbanization, technological development, and the creation of smart cities, will enhance the well-being of citizens, residents and visitors. This will contribute towards an ideal and healthy environment for living and working, in a manner that provides successive generations with a healthy, satisfying and safe life. Asian countries must realize that innovation is the primary source of wealth and development, bypassing their dependence on natural resources in order to realign their focus upon talent and ideas as the source of innovation. The World Urban Forum is being held for the first time in the Middle East in the Arab world and this occurrence in itself is a strong testament to the success of Abu Dhabi’s effective strategy in implementing sustainable urbanization, characterized by the city’s dramatic shift towards urbanization in a relatively short period of time. The forum will provide a detailed study on the effects of modern-day urbanisation on societies, cities, economies, and climate change.

Welding Projects To Do At Home

M

ost people are often very busy with their lives. They could be going through problems, difficulties, or just following an everyday routine. It is usually great to have exciting hobbies, they bring you happiness. Whether you are picking up welding as a hobby or interested in making a few creative pieces, DIY projects can be loads of fun.

These items mentioned below don’t require any expensive material unless you want to be more creative. While making these, it is best to use your imagination instead of copying professionals online. It will be more fun. You can also find more project ideas anywhere online. Here are five welding projects that can easily be done at home:

Metallic Cart While it might not be of much use to you, it can be great to keep all the welding tools in. It is one of the most fun things to create. You can make a small or big cart, depending on your requirements. You can use this to carry around tools instead of lugging them around.

Flowers Flowers can be a beautiful gift for a loved one. A simple rose 78

can make someone’s entire day. However, they only last for a short period. That is why a metallic flower could be even better. First, try making the easiest flower before welding your partner’s favorite one. You can also make it better by using spray paint to color the different parts.

Fire Pit If you have a house with a beautiful backyard, a fire pit might make a great addition to it. You can easily weld a small fire pit, with a stand. You can design it however you like, but make sure it is shaped like a bowl. The deep middle would be where you place the firewood. It can be great for outdoor parties. You can also cozy up with your family around the pit and make s’mores while getting warm on a chilly night.

Fire Guard If the idea of a fire pit seems like a great, it might be best to weld a fireguard as well. It can be very useful in protecting your young kids or toddlers from getting too close, in case you aren’t watching them. No parent will ever want their child to get hurt, and getting burned is one of the worst things. A fire guard will keep everyone at a safe distance away from the pit, but close enough to still feel the heat and make s’mores.

Hammock Chair Hammocks are a great way to lay back and relax. However, the outside weather might not always be suitable for a hammock, or you might not have a backyard. That is where a hammock chair comes in. It is one of the easiest things to make. All you need to do is make a metallic skeleton, then add your preferred cloth material that would act as a hammock. To make this even better, you can curve the bottom and get a rocking hammock chair. It can be a great addition to your furniture and can be extremely relaxing after a long day. 79
