How to Enroll How to Register: • Register online, or • Call 301-600-2936, have your program number (i.e. #24099) and credit card number ready. You will receive a registration confirmation via e-mail after your registration is complete so please make sure your e-mail is current in our system. Be sure to verify your receipt for accuracy. Refund Policy Our refund policy encourages early decisions, so as to not affect other customers or our ability to deliver efficient programs. All requests for refunds must be made at least 10 business days prior to the start of the program. A 20% administrative fee will be charged per refund transaction. Registrations that require advanced tickets are not refundable. Refunds for Sports League registrations must be made prior to the listed league registration deadline. There are no refunds for missed sessions.

Age Policy Program participants must be the advertised age of the program before the program ends. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make sure the instruction is consistent and safe.

A Level 1 USA Archery Instructor will be on hand to ensure safety rules are taught along with the skills needed to be a better archer. All equipment is provided. BASKETBALL BASICS - ADAPTIVE BASKETBALL

Basketball Basics will provide individuals with physical and developmental disabilities an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball, including the rules, foundational skills, and game play all while enjoying non-competitive games and drills. Participants must be able to provide self care independently or with the assistance of a parent/guardian/caregiver who is on site and be able to function in a group with an instructor-participant ratio of 1:3. Participants must also be able to navigate the program terrain, including hard surfaces and flat terrain independently or with the assistance of a parent/guardian/ caregiver who is on site or verbal directions. Participants must be able to follow two-step directions as well as express wants, needs, and desires verbally, with communication device, or with ASL. MARTIAL ARTS FUNDAMENTALS

Through teaching the basics of the martial art known as Tang Soo Do, children will develop the skills of concentration, self-control, and discipline along with the hard and soft components of what most people refer to as Tae Kwon Do. AIKIDO

Aikido is one of the most modern forms of the Japanese martial arts. It has been called a “gentle” martial art because it uses strictly defensive techniques of evasion, redirection, and immobilization and control an attacker. Bone density peaks between the ages of 25 to 30 and begins to decline around 40. Help keep your bones strong, your muscles lean, tissue healthy, and balance in check all while reducing your risk of injury and upping your metabolism through the use of your own body weight resistance along with the use of 1 to 5 pound weights. This class will take you through a full body workout that is gentle but effective. Progression of exercises will be key. Reiki is a Japanese technique that treats the body, emotions, mind and spirit. Frederick County Parks and Recreation offers Adaptive Recreation (AIR) programs designed to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities, developmental differences, and/or higher support needs as well as emphasize participants’ unique abilities. Programs utilize trained staff and higher staff/participant ratios in addition to adapted spaces, materials, and content to provide an opportunity for individuals to participate in various recreation activities.

Adaptive Rec C&O LOCK 29 SENSORY HIKE

Join us for a sensory hike starting at Lock 29 on the C&O Canal. We will stop at the Catoctin Aqueduct take in the sights and complete a mindfulness activity. This parent/child program gives children with sensory and developmental differences the chance to explore all nature has to offer. The trail is a stroller and kid friendly, 1 mile out and back hike. The hike will take approximately 1 hour, including a small mindfulness activity. Participants must be able to navigate relatively flat dirt paths. Yesterday’s lifeline, todays gem. In this short series, we will explore 3 different hikes on the C&O canal. Each hike will be defined by the mileage markers on the canal and they will be approximately 7-10 miles in length, as out and back hikes. We will do our best to accommodate each person’s fitness. Join our experienced naturalist for a sneak peek at one of our local caves. Learn about the local geology and history of this hidden wonder. Participants will meet on site. Please remember to: bring a water bottle, wear long pants, and be prepared to get a little dirty. Also athletic, walking, or hiking shoes (no sandals). Helmets and lights provided. Join us for a sensory hike starting at Lock 29 on the C&O Canal. We will stop at the Catoctin Aqueduct take in the sights and complete a mindfulness activity. This parent/child program gives children with sensory and developmental differences the chance to explore all nature has to offer. The trail is a stroller and kid friendly 1 mile out and back hike. This hike is a loop trail that combines the Three Farms Trail and Bloody Lane Trail at Antietam National Battlefield, the location of one of the most infamous battles of the Civil War. Join like-minded outdoor enthusiasts as we challenge ourselves to combined hike to Jefferson Rock and exploration of the historic town and informal midpoint of the Appalachian Trail, Harpers Ferry. This is an approximately 4.6 mile hike/walk with a 450’ elevation gain. This hike is loop trail that combines walking back in time through the historic town of Harpers Ferry and up to Jefferson Rock, which Thomas Jefferson famously exclaimed “one of the most stupendous scenes in nature.” Enjoy gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains, the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers, and the water gap. Make sure to wear comfortable, closed toe hiking shoes and bring a water bottle. We will select a local restaurant to enjoy lunch together, at participant cost. This hike will require the ability to complete hike at a fast-moving, group pace in allotted trip time of 4.5 hours. Join us for a sensory hike starting at Lock 29 on the C&O Canal. We will stop at the Catoctin Aqueduct take in the sights and complete a mindfulness activity.
