You will receive a registration confirmation via e-mail after your registration is complete so please make sure your e-mail is current in our system. Be sure to verify your receipt for accuracy.

ACCOMMODATIONS

We are able to offer reasonable accommodations, such as providing support staff to individuals with disabilities on an as-needed basis to assist in making the program a positive experience for the individual. To request accommodations, please call 301-600-2936 at least two weeks prior to the program start date.

REFUND POLICY

Our refund policy encourages early decisions, so as to not affect other customers or our ability to deliver efficient programs. All requests for refunds must be made at least 10 business days prior to the start of

the program. A 20% administrative fee will be charged per refund transaction. There are no refunds for missed classes.

AGE POLICY

Program participants must be the advertised age of the program before the program ends. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make sure the instruction is consistent and safe.

PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS/ WEATHER-RELATED CLOSURES

Please see your instructor on the first day of your program for a schedule. If there is a change in the schedule, you will be informed by Parks and Recreation staff of the update. If you are not sure whether a program will be held, call our program cancellation line at 301-600-6291. During inclement weather, outdoor programs may be cancelled. Every effort will be made to make-up missed classes. Refunds will not be granted for rescheduled classes that are missed due to conflicts with personal schedules. The Division may cancel a program for any reasonable cause.

ADULT ARCHERY, INTERMEDIATE

This class is designed for those who have already completed an outdoor Archery Class and are looking to build further skills needed to be a better archer. All equipment and instruction are provided. Please come prepared with weather appropriate attire and a water bottle. 5 week session.

This class is designed for adults who are new to the sport of archery and are interested in learning the basics of shooting, safety rules, and skills needed to be a better archer. HOMESCHOOL ARCHERY

A 5-week archery course specifically designed for homeschool kids and families. This class is appropriate for brand new beginners to intermediate archers. All equipment and instruction are provided. HOMESCHOOL ARCHERY, INTERMEDIATE

BASKETBALL HOOPSTERS MINI BASKETBALL

Bring your little baller to the gym to enjoy basketball based games and drills! This program is designed for preschoolers to experience the game, equipment, and teamwork. The fundamental skills included in this program are designed specifically for preschoolaged children who are just beginning basketball. 6 week session.

BASKETBALL BASICS - ADAPTIVE BASKETBALL CLINIC

Basketball Basics will provide individuals with physical and developmental disabilities an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of basketball, including the rules, foundational skills, and game play all while enjoying non-competitive games and drills. Essential Eligibility Criteria: Program levels 1-3. Participants must be able to provide self care independently, with verbal cues, or with the assistance of a parent/guardian/caregiver who is onsite and be able to function in a group with an instructor-participant ratio of 1:3. Participants must also be able to navigate the program terrain, including hard surfaces and flat terrain independently or with the assistance of a parent/guardian/caregiver who is onsite. Participants must be able to follow two-step directions as well as express wants, needs, and desires verbally, with communication device, or with ASL. Participants will stay with group with continuous supervision. Goals: To increase coordination, body awareness, physical activity, and athletic skill, and to improve sportsmanship. 5 week session.

Designed for preschool cheerleaders, a wonderful introduction to the world of sports and fitness through cheerleading. Parents may stay and watch in the first and last classes only. 6 week session.

SIGNATURE POMS CHEERLEADING CLASS

Designed for elementary students to learn the basics of cheerleading and dance while having fun and working as a team. During this session, students will learn a cheerleading and dance routine while building their confidence and exploring their creativity. We invite parents to sit in for the first class and part of the last class. 6 week session.

Empowered Gymnastics will teach children with physical and development disabilities, delays, or differences the basics of gymnastics. We will use lower level apparatuses to grow the students’ comfort levels and focus on starting positions and basic skills. Each class we will start with a warm up, then move to stretching, structured activities, and a game or group play at the end. Goals: To increase strength, improve coordination, and develop a basic knowledge of gymnastics. Essential Eligibility: Program Levels 1-2. Participants must be able to provide personal care with verbal direction or with the assistance of a caregiver who is onsite, follow two-step directions, and fully participate in activity with a 1:8 participant ratio. Participants are able to convey feelings, desires, and needs verbally, with ASL, or with picture cues/communication device. Participants will stay with the group with the help of verbal prompts and can manage uneven terrain independently. 8 week session.

SIGNATURE POM PREP CHEERLEADING CLASS

Designed for middle school students who plan to take cheerleading/poms seriously. Students will learn how to condition their muscles, improve their flexibility, maintain a balanced diet, improve coordination and prepare for a future in cheer. We invite parents to sit in for the first class and part of the last class. 6 week session.

ENDZONE CHAMPIONS

Participants will have a great time learning the fundamentals of football with fun drills and games! We will emphasize the skills needed to throw, catch, and run. This class is for children who have not yet played or are just beginning to play football. 6 week session.

GOLF

S.N.A.G.

SNAG , or “Starting New at Golf” promotes learning, practicing and playing golf at a beginner level. This fun sport has all the elements of golf, but in a modified form. Participants will learn how to drive, pitch, chip, and putt the golf ball. The necessary equipment is provided. 6 week session.

This exciting preschool gymnastics program is ideal for your little one. Students will learn the fundamental movements of gymnastics while learning how to have fun with movement. Prerequisite: Child must be three year old when the program begins and toilet trained. NO DIAPERS. Parent involvement is required. 6 week session.

GYMNASTICS WITH FUNDAMENTALS GYMNASTICS

This exciting program offers gymnastics for beginners to advanced athletes. Students will work on acquiring many gymnastics skills on bars, beam, floor, and spring board. Parents may stay and watch during the 1st, 3rd and 6th classes. 6 week session.

TUMBLING WITH FUNDAMENTALS GYMNASTICS

This exciting program is for every tumbler from beginners to advanced. Students will be taught everything from cartwheels, round off, handstands, bridges, to the more advanced skills like back handsprings and back tucks. Parents may stay and watch during the 1st, 3rd and 6th classes. 6 week session.

LACROSSE

LITTLE STICKS LACROSSE

Skill stations and lacrosse drills will help little tykes get comfortable with equipment, skills, and teamwork. The fundamental skills (scooping, cradling, shooting) included in this program are designed specifically for preschool-aged children who are just beginning lacrosse. All necessary equipment is provided. 6 week session.

LACROSSE SCOOPERS

This program is designed for children who have not yet played or are just beginning to play lacrosse. We will use skills and fun games to teach basic lacrosse skills, including scooping, cradling, and shooting into the goal! All necessary equipment is provided. 6 week session.

LITTLE NINJAS

Give your child the gift of confidence! This program helps improve self-discipline, develop better concentration, and enhance agility, balance, and coordination through learning the basics of karate. Fee includes uniform and belt. 5 week session.

TEEN/ADULT KARATE

Learn a mix of traditional martial arts and practical self defense in a safe and fun atmosphere. Learn to protect yourself, improve your fitness, reduce your stress, and spend some quality time doing an activity with peers or a family member. 5 week session.

TINY TIGERS

Give your child the gift of confidence! This program helps improve self-discipline, develop better concentration, and enhance agility, balance, and coordination through learning the basics of karate. Fee includes uniform and belt. 5 week session.

MARTIAL ARTS FUNDAMENTALS

Through teaching the basics of the martial art known as Tang Soo Do, children will develop the skills of concentration, selfcontrol, and discipline along with the hard and soft components of what most people refer to as Tae Kwon Do. Participants will gain confidence through learning the basic skills of karate such as stances, blocking, striking, and kicking in a safe, clean, and professional environment. Our 6:1 student to teacher ratio and safe training will ensure that your child has a comfortable and exciting first experience! 5 week session.

Students with previous tae-kwon-do experience will continue practicing self-defense skills such as blocks, kicks, and strikes. Participants will learn choreographed moves called forms. Also, students will learn various block and counter-attack drills with partners. Bag drills will be used to increase focus, power, and technique. In addition to learning new skills, classes offer increased flexibility, balance, coordination, and muscle memory. Participants will be required to wear a white uniform. All testing will be at the instructor’s discretion and will carry an additional fee. 10 week session.

Learn how to play the fastest growing sport in America! Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong on a badminton-sized court, with a modified tennis net, paddle and lightweight ball. This class is designed for anyone interested in the sport that has never played before. Learn basics of the game, including basic shot techniques, rules, court positioning, equipment and intro strategy. Drop-in pickleball to follow afterwards for an additional $2/night. 5 week session.

1ST KICKS TODDLIN TYKES

Your little tyke will experience teamwork and fundamental motorskills in this program specifically designed for them. Skill stations, games and scrimmages will help them get comfortable with a soccer ball and teammates. Parent involvement required 6 week session.

BRAZILIAN SOCCER CLINIC

Our soccer clinics are programs developed for soccer players who want to improve their skills and abilities by learning from an international experienced coach. We create the best environment to increase the footwork, tactical and physical of the athlete. The clinic is a 1-hour session to experience high-intensity and quality training. 8 week session.

1ST KICKS SOCCER

This class is designed for a preschooler’s first experience in soccer. Participants will learn about teamwork and the fundamental skills in soccer. These 45 minute classes include stations and drills that will help them get comfortable with a soccer ball and teammates. This is not a league. Parent participation may be required for some activities. 6 week session.

CRAZY RUNNERS

Our program is designed to help develop coordination and athleticism in young kids. No matter what sport your kids are getting ready for, running can get them in great condition and help them become balanced, well-rounded athletes. We teach the fundamentals using structured practices, form drills, running specific exercises, and running specific plyometrics. We believe in teaching kids to run correctly, being challenged aerobically each practice, and having fun with running games designed to bring out the competitive spirit. 8 week session.

SOCCER STRIKERS

This program is for those who have never played soccer or are just starting out. Participants will explore soccer basics such as kicking, trapping, and dribbling. Skill stations and fun games reinforce the fundamentals. This is not a league. 6 week session.

BRAZILIAN SOCCER - FUTURE STAR

Future Star is the perfect introduction to the fun world of soccer. Children are introduced to the basics of soccer, in a play-oriented yet structured format, using child-friendly but realistic soccer equipment. Each child is given the opportunity to work within their ability level but taught in a group environment. The Future Stars program will help the little ones strengthen relationships, mental health, make friends and make a happier kid in the sport. Creating our future soccer stars. 8 week session.

ALL-STAR ACES TENNIS

Through fun, skill based games your child will build self-confidence, sportsmanship, and motor skills. This program is designed for beginners as an introductory experience. Racquets are provided. 6 week session.

HOT SHOTS TENNIS

Hot Shots Program builds on the skills and mechanics developed in the ACES program. While still using modified court sizes, this program introduces footwork patterns; spin mechanics on both the serve and ground strokes and tactical awareness. Specifically, each player learns to develop areas of strength in their game and how to use them to their advantage. 4 week session.

HEAVY HITTERS TENNIS

Heavy Hitters Program is for players ages 14 and Under. We build on the skills that were developed in the ACES and HOT SHOTS programs, and players learn game changing stroke mechanics and dynamics of footwork. They will have heart pumping rallies, challenging point play and most importantly, FUN! 4 week session.

LIL PRO TENNIS

Join us to start your Lil Pro’s discovery of tennis. Your child will learn the basics of tennis through partner play, fun games, and heartpumping activities. By the end of the course your Lil’ Pro will know basic strokes, court lines, and hitting techniques. 5 week session.

ACES TENNIS PROGRAM

ACES Program is the perfect opportunity for your child to learn the Fundamentals of tennis. We use low compression balls and small court sizes. Activities focus on building agility, balance and coordination skills (The ABC’s), while developing the on-court skills needed to serve, rally, and score. Prior to moving to the next stage of our program, these players will be able to demonstrate understanding of basic technique and maintain that technique during rallies. 4 week session.

YOUTH SPORTS PERFORMANCE

Speed is the ultimate difference maker when it comes to success on the field or the court. This class is designed for ages 8-10 and will create the foundation for coordination and athleticism. This clinic is designed to educate and prepare participants for the game of volleyball. This class introduces basic passing, setting, hitting and serving. Defense and court positioning are included to provide all around team and game play instruction. It’s suitable for those with little or no prior volleyball experience. Come out to work hard and have fun playing volleyball! 5 week session.

This clinic is for those with prior volleyball experience, who want to continue learning the game of volleyball. The class is designed for people who can already perform basic volleyball skills including overhand serve, defense and serve receive formations and transitions. You need to have been promoted from the Beginner program or have previous experience at the high school or club volleyball level. This class builds on basic skills and introduces more advanced offensive and defensive techniques into game play. Participants will be evaluated week 1 to determine if they are qualified for Intermediate or need to successfully complete the Beginner class first. Co-ed adult doubles beach volleyball tournament on Utica’s beach volleyball courts! Round robin style with every team being guaranteed at least 2 games. Registration fee for a team at $49/ team. SALAD JAR + WORKOUT PARTY BY ANGEL FIT

Come for a fun Salad Jar Party where we will learn how to make 4 salad jars! Each week you’ll bring 3 ingredients to share with the class and then we’ll have enough ingredients to make 4 delicious salad jars that would be great for lunch or dinner. Afterwards, we will finish our evening with a workout! Barre Above blends the latest exercise science with the principles of the Lotte Berk method (the genesis of the Barre movement) delivering a fusion of ballet, pilates, yoga and strength training in each workout. It’s a total body workout anyone can do. Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle, 4 mason jars & ingredients you sign up for each week. The first class I will explain how to make the salad jars and how we will make them as a class but we will not make the salad jars the first class. Frederick County Senior Services offers a variety of programs to help you maintain wellness and independence.

From speakers and workshops to special events and day trips; from enrichment and social opportunities to fitness classes and programs we offer something for everyone.

The 50+ Community Centers offers a variety of fitness classes such as strength training, yoga, Zumba, and line dance.

In addition, social, recreational, and educational programs are scheduled. These include discussion groups, book clubs, film club, drawing class, and health and nutrition programs.

In-person programs will be limited as centers operate on abbreviated schedules during the reopening.

In order to assure safe and adequate distancing, programs will have limited seating capacity, masks are strongly recommended, and preregistration will be required for all programs and activities.

SEWING FOR THE ABSOLUTE BEGINNER

Do you have a sewing machine and are unsure how to use it - orwant to build your confidence and skills on your machine? Come learn how to sew the "right" way in a safe and friendly environment. In this class you will learn the basics techniques as you sew small samples. You'll learn some of the "rules" and why they are important so that you can get more professional results.

PART 2: THE QUILTER

Now that you know the basics about your sewing machine, you are ready to take your new skills to the next level and start making things for yourself, home, friends, family and community! In this class, you will get to know your sewing machine even more as you learn valuable skills that can be applied to different types of sewing from quilting to home dec to garment making. We will focus on making a finished project in this class that can be used as a table topper, or donated to Frederick County Animal Control & Adoption Center. Class Goals: You will understand the importance of the construction process from cutting to finishing. You will learn the best and safest practices for using a rotary cutter to cut accurate sizes of fabric, tips to help you achieve consistent seam allowances. Don't throw it out, mend it! In this class, you will learn what supplies you need to perform basic mending of your favorite clothes and other belongings. This class is chocked full of information that you probably would not think about when tackling a mending task. You will learn some great hacks to save you time and help you in a pinch. This class is designed to give you good life skills that will come in handy for many years to come. You will learn how to repair a variety of your favorite belongings from A (your pet's favorite animal) to Z (zippers). This class will be part hands-on, part demonstration with some hand sewing and machine sewing. If you own a sewing machine you can bring it, but a sewing machine is not required for this class.

Students with previous tae-kwon-do experience will continue practicing self-defense skills such as blocks, kicks, and strikes. Participants will learn choreographed moves called forms. Also, students will learn various block and counter-attack drills with partners. Bag drills will be used to increase focus, power, and technique. In addition to learning new skills, classes offer increased flexibility, balance, coordination, and muscle memory. Participants will be required to wear a white uniform. All testing will be at the instructor’s discretion and will carry an additional fee. 10 week session.

This class will provide individuals with physical and developmental disabilities an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of martial arts, including stances, blocking, striking, and kicking and allow them to focus on individual skills in a team environment. Essential Eligibility

Criteria: Program levels 1 & 2. Participants must be able to provide personal care independently or with verbal direction, follow twostep directions independently, and fully participate in activity with a 1:5 participant ratio. Participants are able to convey feelings, desires, and needs verbally, with ASL, or with picture cues/communication device. Participants will stay with the group with the help of verbal prompts and can manage flat terrain independently. A 2 mile out-and-back trail with a 1250’ elevation gain, you will enjoy the reward of stunning views of Potomac after a strenuous climb. The Frederick Watershed is a treasured jewel of forestland with numerous small ponds on the area that attract plenty of wildlife as well migrating waterfowl. Generally considered a moderately challenging route due to rocky terrain and brief encounters in elevation, it takes an average of 2 hours and 45 minute to complete. Make sure to wear comfortable, closed toe, hiking shoes and bring a water bottle, snacks/ lunch.

This trail contains the most strenuous sections of trail in the park. Expect uneven and rocky terrain as you have a total gain 870 feet in elevation. GET READY FOR PRESCHOOL!

During this program, your 30 - 36 month old child will practice skills that will help him/her prepare for preschool. We will focus on separating from a caregiver, turn-taking with peers, following directions in a group, imitating actions during circle time and having fun with friends. Our daily schedule includes free play, circle time, art, movement, snack and story time. This inclusive group is taught by staff from the Frederick County Infants and Toddlers Program. Caregivers are required to stay on the premises. Please only register for one session as space is limited. This 45 minute class is an introductory class containing ballet tap. Give your child the gift of confidence! This program helps improve self-discipline, develop better concentration, and enhance agility, balance, and coordination through learning the basics of karate. Fee includes uniform and belt. 5 week session.

We will use lower level apparatuses to grow the students’ comfort levels and focus on starting positions and basic skills. Each class we will start with a warm up, then move to stretching, structured activities, and a game or group play at the end. Goals: To increase strength, improve coordination, and develop a basic knowledge of gymnastics. Essential Eligibility: Program Levels 1-2. Participants must be able to provide personal care with verbal direction or with the assistance of a caregiver who is onsite, follow two-step directions, and fully participate in activity with a 1:8 participant ratio. Participants are able to convey feelings, desires, and needs verbally, with ASL, or with picture cues/communication device. Participants will stay with the group with the help of verbal prompts and can manage uneven terrain independently. 8 week session.

Future Star is the perfect introduction to the fun world of soccer. Children are introduced to the basics of soccer in a play-oriented yet structured format, using child-friendly but realistic soccer equipment. Each child is given the opportunity to work within their ability level but taught in a group environment. REGISTRATION PROCESS

You will receive a registration confirmation via e-mail after your registration is complete so please make sure your e-mail is current in our system. Be sure to verify your receipt for accuracy.

CAMP DEPOSITS

A $25 non-refundable/non-transferable deposit per camper, per week will hold your child’s space in the camps listed below. Balance of registration fees must be paid-in-full by 4 pm, Friday, May 26th. If payment is not received by this deadline, your child’s registration is cancelled. Registrations made after May 26th must be paid-in-full at the time of registration.

REFUND POLICY

Our refund policy encourages early decisions, so as to not affect other customers or our ability to deliver efficient programs. All requests for refunds must be made at least 10 business days prior to the start of the program. A 20% administrative fee will be charged per refund transaction. Registrations that require advanced tickets are not refundable. Refunds for Sports League registrations must be made prior to the listed league registration deadline. There are no refunds for missed classes.

COMPLETE HEALTH PROFILE

A health profile is required to be completed for each camp participant, through CampDoc, in order to attend. Only one profile is needed per camper for the 2023 camp season. You only have to complete once.

If your child needs medication during camp hours, download the Medication Authorization Form through CampDoc. Staff is not permitted to accept medications until the proper paperwork is complete.

Information about creating your CampDoc profile will be emailed to you before the start of camp.

Here are some tips to get you started:

1. Your answers will save as you type them. You do not have to complete the entire health profile at once.

2. You can navigate between steps by clicking the Previous Step or Next Step buttons at the bottom of the page. You may also jump between steps by clicking the step name on the right of the page.

AGE POLICY

Program participants must be the advertised age of the program before the program ends. All age requirements are set to benefit the participants and to make sure the instruction is consistent and safe.

PROGRAM CANCELLATIONS/ WEATHER-RELATED CLOSURES

Please see your instructor on the first day of your program for a schedule. If there is a change in the schedule, you will be informed by Parks and Recreation staff of the update. If you are not sure whether a program will be held, call our program cancellation line at 301-600-6291. During inclement weather, outdoor programs may be cancelled. Every effort will be made to make-up missed classes. Refunds will not be granted for rescheduled classes that are missed due to conflicts with personal schedules. The Division may cancel a program for any reasonable cause.

SIGNING IN/OUT

Parent, guardian or authorized person over the age of 18 must sign campers in & out each day and must show photo identification. Staff are required to ID all persons picking up children.

LATE PICKUP POLICY

If a parent or authorized person is late picking up the child, a late fee of $1 for every 3 minutes will be applied.

CAMP STAFF

Camp staff are carefully screened and selected for their activity skills, level of enthusiasm, ability to work well with children, and good judgment. Training is provided on safety procedures and expected conduct, as well as activity planning and implementation. By state law, all staff undergo background checks and must be certified in CPR and First Aid. All camp directors are over 21 years of age.

WHAT TO BRING TO SUMMER CAMP

Please label all belongings. Personal belongings should be kept in a bag or backpack. Cell phones and electronic devices are allowed to be carried in the child’s backpack, but must be turned off during camp hours. We strongly discourage campers bringing these items to camp.

Closed-Toe Shoes: Dress comfortably in old clothing and closed-toe shoes. Please do not send your child to camp in open-toed shoes or sandals.

Peanut-Free Snack Water Bottle

Swimsuit/Towel: On days noted in the camp newsletter, bring a swimsuit and towel that can get messy.

Sunscreen & Bug Spray: Apply before arrival.

Lunch: Pack a non-perishable lunch as there are no refrigerators.

INCLUSION AND ACCOMMODATIONS

WHAT IS INCLUSION?

Inclusion within Frederick County Parks and Recreation means that individuals who have disabilities or need additional support are welcome to participate in the same recreation programs and activities alongside their peers without disabilities. Inclusive opportunities are supported through reasonable accommodations, or disability modifications, with support from our AIR Team. Reasonable Accommodations are based on each individual’s abilities and needs.

WHAT ARE EXAMPLES OF REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS?

Accommodations that may be available to promote successful participation in programs include: inclusion support staff, use of companions, ASL interpreters, communication visuals, additional training for program staff, adaptive equipment or supplies, activity modifications that do not change the nature of the program or activity, and individualized strategies for success.

WHAT ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL INCLUSION?

The same minimum requirements that apply to a person without a disability also apply to a person with a disability. These include:

• Meeting the program’s age and registration requirements;

• Following the rules of conduct (with or without reasonable accommodations);

• Voluntary participation (Note: Recreation programs and activities are voluntary in nature. Participation will be encouraged and aided, but not forced.);

• Meeting necessary level of participation with or without reasonable accommodations (participant will engage in scheduled activities for the majority of the program time);

• Ability to use a consistent form of communication to indicate basic needs and follow simple directions; and

• Ability to function, with assistance, as a member of a group of 12 or more people.

WHAT SERVICES ARE NOT PART OF INCLUSION?

Inclusion services do not include the following:

• Being in a separate area or participating in alternate activities for the majority of the program.

• Exception (with or without accommodations) to minimum compliance with program rules and regulations established for safety purposes.

• Hiring, selection, or guaranteed assignment of a specific staff member.

• Individualized therapy within a program.

• Provision and/or purchase of personal custom devices.

IS AN INCLUSIVE RECREATION SETTING THE RIGHT CHOICE AND/OR EXPERIENCE?

Consider the program first-hand and ask yourself…

• If school-aged, do your child’s current classroom activities or goals prepare them for an inclusive recreation experience?

• Has the individual shown an interest in the program activity or subject matter?

• Are they comfortable and able to function appropriately, with or without assistance, in inclusive environments (malls, restaurants, parks, etc.)?

• Will an accommodation or inclusion support staff give the participant adequate support to fully participate in a general recreation program without disruption to others?

WHAT ARE PROGRAM LEVELS AND ESSENTIAL ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA?

FCPR’s AIR Team utilizes designated program levels and essential eligibility criteria to ensure the safety of all participants and staff who are part of the program and to allow participants to experience the program to the fullest extent. These levels outline the minimum physical and cognitive skills needed in order to participate.

• Examples of programs that may be considered Level 1 include, but are not limited to: outdoor adventure programs, elite sports programs, and gymnastics.

• Examples of programs that may be considered Level 2 include, but are not limited to: general day camps, enrichment programs, history programs, nature programs, preschool programs, instructional sports programs, social groups, fitness programs, and most adaptive recreation programs.

• Examples of programs that may be considered Level 3 include, but are not limited to: adaptive recreation summer camps, and some adaptive sports programs.

• Examples of programs that may be considered Level 4 include, but are not limited to: special events, adaptive parent/ child programs, and adaptive open gyms.

WHAT ARE ADAPTIVE RECREATION PROGRAMS FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES?

Frederick County Parks and Recreation offers alternative choices through specialized adaptive recreation programs for individuals with disabilities. Participants have a wide range of abilities and special needs; some prefer and benefit from participating in highly structured specialized programs designed specifically for participants with disabilities. Programs utilize trained staff and higher staff/participant ratios in addition to adapted spaces, materials, and content to provide an opportunity for individuals to participate in various recreation activities. Program spaces are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Participants must meet the program’s essential eligibility criteria. HOW DO I REQUEST AN ACCOMMODATION?

To request an accommodation:

1. Register for the program, camp, or event.

2. Check “yes” that you are requesting an ADA accommodation.

3. AIR staff will contact the parent/guardian to complete a Program Accommodation Form and return the completed form to our Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation Team (AIR) at 355 Montevue Lane, Suite 100, Frederick, MD 21702 or via email.

4. Once the Program Accommodation Form is received, AIR staff will reach out to the parent/guardian to set up a time to review the request and develop individualized strategies for success.

Join us for a summer full of FUN! We will spend the summer enjoying sports, games and crafts that reflect our weekly themes. CAMP SWIM

Sign your camper up for swimming at Middletown or Walkersville Monocacy Day Camps! Campers will be transported to and from the pool where they will learn water safety, play water games, and have free swim time. Participants must be registered in Camp Monocacy at Middletown or Walkersville Rec Centers. There is no instruction.

Adventure Games

This camp is designed for campers that want to make new friends as they work together in fun, challenging, team-building activities. During the week the campers will be able to: go tubing along the creek (subject to water level), participate in many competitions, and much more.

Wilderness Skills

We will spend the week learning new outdoor skills including: wildlife tracking, geocaching, survival shelter building, and much more. Campers will also have the opportunity to test their skills in archery.

Mad Science

This is an opportunity for campers to experience science through experimentation and observations. They will participate in various activities that are based on scientific theories and fun.

Ecosystem Explorers

Enjoy exploring the habitats of the wild animals of Catoctin Creek Park! Campers will meet the Nature Center’s live animals and explore the creek, woods, and meadows searching for the wild critters that live here. The week will be rounded out with camp games and activities.

Survivor Camp

Campers show their survival smarts by constructing survival shelters and trying their hands at other basic outdoor survival techniques such as fire building, collecting water, and tubing along the creek (subject to water level).

Creatures come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Mythical ones, real ones, and just imaginary ones. Enjoy the week learning, discovering, and/or making up a creature.

Aquatic Adventures

This camp is designed for campers who love to be in and around the water and learning about the wild creatures that live there. Awesome Amphibians

Campers will learn what makes amphibians so special and have the opportunity to meet some that live at the nature center. We’ll explore the amphibian world through games, crafts, and outdoor exploration.

Reptiles Rock

Whether it slithers or scampers, this camp is about all things reptile! Through hikes, games, crafts, live animal talks, and outdoor exploration, campers have fun learning all about our reptile friends here at the park.

Insect Extravaganza

It’s summertime and the bugs and butterflies are hopping at Catoctin Creek! Campers will just love to take bug hikes, play silly bug games, make cool bug crafts and meet our buggy friends living at the Nature Center.

Through the Senses

Explore nature through the 5 senses by learning what they are, what they tell you about the world around you, and how animals use them to survive. Campers will explore their senses through games and activities. Each day will be themed based on one of the five senses.

Wings and Things

Whirr! Flap! Swoosh! Glide! Campers do all sorts of cool activities while they explore the world of flight and flying creatures. Each day will showcase different animals and their airborne abilities.

Nature Camp-Vet Tech Kids

This camp is an introduction to the world of animal care for those thinking about being a veterinarian or zoologist, or for those that just love animals. Learn about the nutritional needs, and the resting and eating habits of the animals at the nature center. There will be hands on experiences with different animals.

Nature Science Camp

Explore science through the lens of nature. Campers will set bait to study animal tracks, learn about the weather with fun experiments, conduct a field study on seed dispersal, take water quality tests to determine the health of our creek and much more. Some join us as we us the scientific method to figure out how things work and conduct experiments with your friends while reveling in the fresh air.

Survival of the Kiddest

This week it is all about how to survive in the wild. We will learn about animal survival tools and try out some of our own including; how to find water and edible wild food, build shelters, tie knots and so much more. Here is a fun way to hang out with friends and learn some survival skills while enjoying the outdoors and learning how to keep you safe in the outdoors.

Pirates at the Park

Have a blast this week playing pirate-themed games out in the park! Campers will create their own maps, go on treasure hunts, and play water games. We will learn about some of the wildlife that pirates encountered out on the seas as well as what we find in our own backyards! We have trails, streams, and lots of open space for conquering pirates to explore...and, of course, lots of pirate jokes!

Ultimate Nature Camp

Each day brings a new adventure! Maybe a hike in the woods, a trip to the creek, meet a nature center animal or play a game to help learn more about the environment. Maybe a little of everything! Come join us to find out what’s going on at the park this week. Please wear clothes you can get messy in. We will be outside as much as possible exploring in nature!

Little Bugs

A is for ANT, B is for BIRD and C is for CAN I GO TO Nature Camp!? Join our outdoor adventure for our littlest naturalists! Let’s walk around the trails and find fun nature things all over the park. We will have crafts, games, and lots of outdoor play!

Knee High Naturalists

Spend each day of the week in a different natural world. Chase butterflies, splash in the creek, explore the forest, play games and make nature crafts. Let’s get outside this summer! Please bring a water bottle and dress in play clothes as we will be outside as much as possible.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMP

Jump into outdoor adventure this summer! Enjoy traditional field games and arts and crafts alongside practicing archery, cooling off in the Monocacy River, learning survival skills, playing outdoor games, exploring the forest and discovering nature! Each week we will also be diving deeper into a specific theme.

Crafter’s Camp with Coyle Outside

This camp taps into the engineering brain all of us have and how to reconnect with the natural world around us. Learn how to use natural materials to make everyday tools and crafts. Each day we will introduce a new building project that participants will work on throughout the week to bring home. Projects may include safely and efficiently using a bushcraft knife, making a bone awl, wooden batons, natural fiber cordage and knots, hand carved wood spoons and/or bowls, compression\percussion and friction fire methods, buckskin medicine pouches, bamboo walking sticks, gourd drinking bottles, simple stone tools, rocket stoves, plant ID and uses and more! We will take daily “woods walks” to explore the park and look for materials. As we learn about and work through projects we focus on patience, individual creativity, and self-awareness.

Advanced Wilderness Survival with Coyle Outside

This camp goes in depth into critical survival skills using fun, challenging scenarios. Participants work on their own and in teams to problem solve various skills challenges such as shelter, fire, tool use, knife safety, traps, rope and knots, plant uses, animal tracking, primitive skills, navigation and more. Theatricks has been enriching lives since the LATE 80’s founded in Frederick MD. We teach skills such as juggling, wire walking, clowning, and much much more! Theatricks is led by veteran circus performer Mark Lohr. Mark’s circus arts career started with the start of Theatricks. He was trained by the company to wow audiences with circus skills while bringing the laughs with a unique style of slapstick and physical comedy. His circus background includes The Carden International Circus, Ringling and Cirque de Sole as well as on the stages of the Myerhoff Symphony Hall and the Kennedy Center. His 30-plus years as a performer have been very successful but what has truly driven him is the two-fold mission of Theatricks.1. To entertain with circus arts and 2. Defense and court positioning are included to provide all around team and game play instruction. Must have completed a Beginner “Go Get it“ clinic/camp or have club/high school experience. No camp June 19th.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL - ADVANCED

This camp will focus on improving your serving, passing, setting and hitting during sand play. You will also learn how to play doubles volleyball on a sand court. This camp is suitable for those with experience looking to improve their skills.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL - BEGINNERS

This camp will teach you how to correctly serve, pass, set and hit a volleyball during sand play. You will also learn how to play doubles volleyball on a sand court. This camp is suitable for those with little or no experience.
