Tackling issues that can change lives and promoting positive choices are at the heart of the Human Services certificate and degrees. By learning a broad range of skills, you will be prepared to improve personal situations through guidance, counseling, and advocacy. You can concentrate in areas like family studies, substance abuse or family studies, and help individuals and families be healthier and happier. You will be prepared to jump into advanced programs such as a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and careers such as public health, counseling, or other areas where you are meeting and supporting human needs.

Earning an Associate Degree in Education is an option for anyone considering a career in the classroom. There are distinct advantages to starting this way for many students. It is an accessible entry point into the education field. An associate’s degree in education can lead to rewarding opportunities in a child care center or preschool, or in a public school supporting a lead teacher. In some cases, you may be able to teach at a private school.

The Associate of Science in Education is designed for the student who is planning to enter a bachelor's program upon completion.

This is a multidisciplinary department. Students in this area are dedicated to understanding the human mind and human behavior in the past and present at many levels: the individual, the cultural, and the societal.

Students will explore how diverse peoples and groups operate. They will also discover how social groups affect communities and society as a whole.

Fields of study include classes in psychology, sociology, economics, anthropology, Chicana/Chicano studies, and education.

Students will identify how to meet human needs through an interdisciplinary approach focusing on knowledge-based prevention and intervention skills. This program introduces students to the study and practice of Human Services and provides information about careers in social work, public health, and other social service endeavors.
